What's In My Makeup Bag: Clean Makeup for Healthy Skin

When it comes to skin health, clean skin care doesn’t stop at cleansers, serums, and moisturisers, it extends to the makeup we wear every day.

I choose daily makeup products that support my skin health, opting for cleaner formulations that won’t undo all the hard work of my skincare regimen. I still love some traditional makeup products for special occasions, but my everyday choices are more mindful, aligned with my philosophy of skin-first beauty.

As my skin has evolved over the years, becoming drier and less bouncy than it once was, I’ve adapted my makeup routine accordingly. Like skincare, makeup should enhance your skin’s natural beauty, not mask it.

Everyone has their own preference when it comes to makeup, but for my daily wear, I like it to feel fresh, dewy, and subtle. I save the more “done” look for special occasions.

So, what’s in my clean makeup bag?
(Starting, of course, with the healthiest skin possible — the base is key!)

My Clean Makeup Essentials

Concealer

I reach for concealer sparingly — less is definitely more to avoid that cakey look. I use it under the eyes and over any areas of redness. The Cover & Conceal Stick from Dermaviduals is a personal favourite; the green shade neutralises any redness while calming inflammation thanks to its skin-friendly formulation.

Foundation

I rely on my custom DECO foundation from Dermaviduals for a foundation that feels and acts like skincare. It perfectly matches my skin tone, offering a soft, glowy finish and a comfortable, breathable feel. I can easily layer it for more coverage when needed, without it ever feeling heavy.

Cream Blush and Eye Colour

I prefer cream over powder products these days, especially for blush and eye colour. Cream formulas sit comfortably on my skin and deliver a softer, more natural finish that complements a healthy, hydrated complexion.

Brow Filler

As I've noticed the odd brow hair thinning over time, a brow filler has become an essential. A quick brush through the brows helps maintain a natural, polished look. I also keep up regular brow and lash tinting to combat pigment loss in the hairs.

Lash Curler and Mascara

A lash curler is non-negotiable, as it opens up the eyes beautifully. I choose Kjaer Weis, one of the cleanest options for mascara. It’s gentle on the eyes, wears comfortably throughout the day, and removes easily at night — a must for maintaining overall eye health.

Lip Care and Colour

For lip colour, I start with the Dermaviduals Lip Liner to help lock in colour. I then opt for a Kjaer Weis lip gloss or Lük Beautifood lipstick — both brands prioritise clean beauty.
Lük’s lipsticks, in particular, are made from 100% natural, plant-based, and organic ingredients, using pigments extracted from fruits and vegetables like beetroot, carrot, and hibiscus. Healthy enough to eat!

When I'm not wearing a lip colour, I’m never without my Dermaviduals Lip Balm — applied 24/7 to nourish the lips, soften lines, and prevent cracking.

Final Thoughts

Clean makeup isn’t about compromising on performance or beauty, it’s about enhancing your skin’s health while still feeling confident and radiant. Every product in my daily makeup bag is thoughtfully chosen to align with my skincare values, supporting skin function while offering a fresh, natural finish.

Healthy skin is the ultimate foundation for any makeup look. And when you honour your skin, it shows.
